Instagram:
Currently, Kylie Jenner – a well known, social media, star, and icon, has a whopping 135 million followers (and counting)! Her Instagram continues to “take off” each day. Although she is followed by many, she only follows 127 accounts back. Her Instagram platform consists of text, photos, videos, tutorials, links to her sites, and more! She is definitely making the most of this platform! I do not see any room for improvement since she is a top Instagram mogul.
“The social media world is Kylie Jenner’s kingdom, and the rest of us just like, follow, and comment on it. As People reported on Thursday, May 3, Kylie Jenner is the most valuable influencer on Instagram, per data from social media insights and analytics firm D’Marie Analytics. According to the company’s calculations, one of Jenner’s sponsored posts is worth over a million dollars in “ad equivalent value.” Basically, thanks to how many people interact with her account (e.g., views, follows, link clicks, likes, comments), Jenner’s Instagram posts are valued at over a million dollars in traditional ad spending. The analytics firm added that she is the first member of the Kardashian-Jenner family to hit this milestone.”
Kylie tends to post daily. This is quite frequent in my opinion, however, it must be working because her platform is constantly expanding. With her large number of posts, 5,925, and millions of likes and comments rolling in each and every day, it is hard for her to keep up with the demand of interaction with fans. Although this is disappointing to many, I understand that it’s best for her to address her fans as a group, rather than individually. Personally, I think it would take thousands on a crew that would need to be hired if she were to reply to each fan!
I believe Kylie’s Instagram is in fact appropriate for all audiences. She does a good job (in my opinion) of maintaining a professional online presence in order to attract individuals of all ages and kinds. Since her audience is mainly teens (I believe), she tries to keep most of her content to a PG-13 level.
I think her comments back to fans, mentions, and more are also appropriate. Once again, I believe this is because she wants to have a professional appeal on social media. Overall, this is the image that she presents to her audience.

Twitter:
This social media platform lacks followers compared to her Instagram. On Twitter, Kylie stands at having 27.2 million followers. Unlike her Instagram, she follows a decent amount of accounts, specifically, 1,104.
Kylie posts less on her Twitter than Instagram, however, she still posts frequently. It seems to me that she favors posting content related to her companies. She is the proud owner of Kylie Cosmetics, and now, Kylie Skin. She posts lots of advertising for her brands, images of products, sales, new products, reviews, hashtags and more.
Occasionally, she will post more personal content. She will sometimes “tweet” her feelings, images of her family, give shoutouts, and the list only goes on! Additionally, she seems to be more interactive with her fans on this platform. She will sometimes retweet fans, and thank them for their support, compliment them, and more.
Recently, Kylie has been attacked on twitter in regards to her walnut facial scrub that Kylie Skin will be launching on May 22, 2019.
Here is what someone on Pajaba had to say:
“OK, so here’s the thing. I’m no dermatologist, but I know that walnut powder as an everyday exfoliator is a very bad idea. The merits of exfoliating creams or washes that use ground down nuts and similar products have been heavily debated over the past few years. St. Ives, the makers of maybe the most famous exfoliating facial scrub of the past decade or so, were sued in 2017 over claims that it was ‘unfit to be sold or used’ for its primary purpose. One dermatologist claimed that crushed peach stones or walnut shells was like using ‘sandpaper on your face’. As someone with psoriasis and acne on my face, I can attest to the sheer f*cking agony of using harsh face scrubs, and it’s especially sh*tty because products like that are the ones shoved onto you by salespeople and an entire industry that positions having bad skin as a sign of one’s overall cleanliness and social status.”

Facebook:
Kylie has a verified “Public Figure” page on Facebook. This page has over 22 million likes! So – yet another fan-filled page. This page includes a link to her cosmetics brand, along with many advertisements for her brands.
As of recent, Kylie posted she will be launching “Kylie Skin” on May 22, 2019. This is her skin care line that will be here soon. She has been posting videos of the products being made in her Kylie Skin factory, and has been updating her loyal fans as to what products she has, their ingredients, and more. She does not post as frequently on this platform as she does Twitter and Instagram.
It does not seem that Kylie corresponds with individuals via her Facebook page. I am going to assume that it is not actually ran by her and that she has someone manage it. Additionally, less people comment and like her postings on the page. I believe this is because her audience is mainly teens and I find that teens tend to favor other platforms over Facebook.
She seems to be more PG on this platform. Mainly, I say this because she posts mostly products and images of her family. I can’t seem to find many revealing photos on her Facebook page. With that being said – she has a professional look on the platform.
I think she could improve her Facebook. If she were to post on her Instagram and Twitter letting her fans know that she has a Facebook, I think those with Facebook accounts would start interacting with her more on her Facebook page. That is the one improvement that I think she should make.
Here is a link to one of her “Kylie Skin” videos that she has embedded into her Facebook: https://youtu.be/dakFbtpH7hw .
Digital Footprint
Kylie’s digital footprint is extremely broad. When googling her name, many links appear. These links include: a wikipedia page, her brand pages (Kylie Cosmetics and Kylie Skin), several video links to YouTube, and information in regards to her house.
Kylie is a popular icon that is constantly being talked about. For this reason, many blogs, pages, etc. often post many updates in regards to her day to day life. An example of this is a posting stating that she got a new tattoo. Today, May 17, 2019, when I googled her, the top search items were in regards to her “new tattoo”.
Analysis
“The controversy that surrounds the Kardashian-Jenner family can often cause a media frenzy. The old saying goes, ‘any publicity is good publicity’, and this is certainly the case here. When rumors sparked about Kylie’s pregnancy, she spent nine months neither confirming nor denying the rumors by simply not addressing them. Although her Instagram activity decreased significantly, she used the publicity to continue to promote her cosmetics line; with eagle eyed users jumping at any glimpse of social activity that may divulge information.”
Kylie’s social media reaches counties across the globe. With that being said – I believe there is little room for improvement on all of her platforms. She does not need to try to reach individuals and/or fans. Fans and individuals simply flock to her.
Kylie Jenner started being on reality TV at a young age, allowing her to quickly grow a following. Years later when Twitter and Instagram took off, she already had a following behind closed doors that quickly seemed to quite literally “follow” her on all of the above mentioned platforms.
Overall – Kylie Jenner is someone I would consider a “cool” professional business woman. She has been featured as the youngest Forbes billionaire. She has been on multiple magazine covers, starred on many TV shows, attends celebrity events across the globe, and more. With the help of these other non-social media platforms, her success and following has only grown (quite rapidly) with time.
